Life lessons from baking bread — part 3
Excited to see holes in this new batch. 👍
With every attempt, I am getting better and better every day. I receive new information to better reiterate. I allow the negative emotions to come up when a batch doesn’t turn out and do my best to honour the information.
The patience that it takes to stretch and fold, while waiting and repeating the process, is a good reminder to slow down and be present.
It can be tricky to get out of my head and back into action after a failed loaf. It can also be fuel to find more information on how to make my next batch better than the last.
Sharing my lessons and experiences to help others achieve their own bread making goals has been fulfilling. It’s through these lessons that we are able to connect and relate as human beings.
Finding new tips online — such as putting the dough into the refrigerator for 18–24 hours before baking (to retain its shape), has been eyeopening. The community of videos on YouTube and the numerous (sometimes overwhelming!) online sourdough recipes inspire me to remember that I can do it. And so can you.
Trust that you are doing the best that you can with the resources/tools that you have. Every day is a new opportunity to begin again. You have the resources to achieve your goals.
Great lessons to remember self-kindness and compassion. 🙏
