Happy New Year! Wishing you all the love, success, joy, and peace for 2020!

At the end of last year, I felt so many things come up. Finding the right fit for me has been a good lesson to learn.

How many times do we say “yes” to things that we aren’t completely aligned with?

How many times do we let the needs of others dictate our lives without consciously being aware of it?

What works for one person may not work for another and this was a good reminder to appreciate and work through. Acknowledging who I am and honouring my needs is a work in progress. Keep trusting — even when things feel like they are going in the opposite direction, as when I keep working through it, there will be those 1mm shifts (even when I can’t see it). Finding my own fit has been a process of listening to my intuition and voicing it, even if it doesn’t make sense to others.

Focusing on my inner work and not comparing myself to the external world and what others are saying/doing has been challenging. In doing so, I have to keep trusting that I am honouring my higher self to make a difference. Trusting that my own inner voices matter. My unique point of view matters and my intention is key.

How do you become less reactive to everything around you?

With all of the ‘busyness’ of the outside world, I find that my voice gets lost with all the activity that keeps the world going round and round. More importantly, I find that this activity creates more pressure for me to be at a certain place in life (a continual work in progress for me), instead of just allowing myself to just be.

One of the things that has helped me is disconnecting from all the overwhelm of messages that surround me on a daily basis. Being conscious of opening my phone (or leaving it shut off for the day) when I’m ready to look at it, responding to messages when I’m able to respond, are just some of the ways to create more space for me.

Being aware of my patterns is a good reminder to self-reflect.

Catching myself scrolling endlessly when I’m feeling hopeless, frustrated, bored or sad has been something that I’ve become more aware of. Sometimes I have to just allow myself to scroll and give myself a break. Other times, I hear my inner voices comparing. At that point, it’s a good reminder to shift the focus back to me and my progress instead of putting other people’s lives at the forefront of my focus.

Do you scroll through your social media throughout the day to temporarily escape from your reality?

It’s so much easier to “sweep your problems under the rug.” As things incrementally build up, I ask myself, “Is this serving me to my highest purpose?”

Growth is messy and it takes work and I am reminded that it’s the small steps that create progress and hope for better things to come. It’s celebrating my small wins and my unique journey and remembering to embrace greater self-compassion.

Thanks for reading, as always, I appreciate your support!
