With all the challenges of the year, sometimes all we need is a break.
A break from it all.
To give yourself the permission to give yourself the time and space to just decompress and do nothing. With the pressures building up from all parts of life, it can be easy to get mentally, emotionally, and physically drained from it all. Sometimes it’s useful to just disengage and let yourself just be. Free of the judgment and expectations to just be. The freedom to do what you what and when you want.
It can be so tiring to go through…
Choose to look for the good…even when it doesn’t feel like there is any good.
Especially when we are challenged, it can be so easy to go through circles of the same thinking. The thoughts keep going round and round and as a result, you can get more frustrated and exhausted.
Sometimes I’m in such a loop that all I can think about is the same thought (in different variations) on repeat. Can any of you relate to this feeling?
Breaking the cycle can be challenging, especially if you are not aware of it. To become more aware of my…
It’s been a challenging year. It’s challenged us in different ways. How have you responded in these times of stress?
It’s easy to project our feelings of anger and frustration. If we haven’t experienced intense emotions like this before, then it can be tricky to understand what it feels like and/or know what to do with it.
Some people don’t want to deal with negative emotions and would rather them just go away. Others prefer to deal with it so that they can get to the root cause.
I’ve encountered certain situations recently where I was met with unexplained frustration…
How often are you feeling overwhelmed and out of control?
I know that previously, I felt as though I couldn’t share my feelings of being overwhelmed out of fear of being judged. As more and more people have shared with me their feelings of overwhelm, I feel a sense of release. It’s almost giving these feelings freedom to just be what they are and to be ok with feeling. It almost normalizes the negative feelings and it makes it easier to talk about.
In a pandemic and in changing situations, we may realize that we share more similar feelings and…
When there is fear and uncertainty, how do you stay calm?
In an ideal world, staying calm and focusing on your breathing is a way to stay grounded. In reality, there are going to be times where you don’t feel as calm and that’s ok.
Reflecting back, I am tough on myself when I don’t stay calm and collected. I also have to remind myself that we are in a pandemic and to give myself some grace.
There have been so many moments of uncertainty in daily life. As we have been asked to stay at home as the daily…
A theme that has been really relevant as of late.
Do you know what’s expected of you in your career? In your relationships? Within family? Most importantly, the expectations that you have for yourself?
Without clarity, it can be challenging to understand what this means on a daily basis. There can be expectations that haven’t been clearly communicated — by yourself and with the other person. And if the other person expects you to abide within these expectations and you are not aware of what these expectations are, there can be challenges.
Within your career, if you’ve started a new…
There are many factors to consider when choosing an ideal contractor — from the noisy construction work, to the inconvenience of having to live differently, to potentially tripping over boxes and the daily clean ups, consider what you want it to look like through investing some time and energy into the process.
One of the key things to consider is trust and communication. Do you trust the contractor that you are working with? Is this person open with his communication and willing to educate you through the process? Is the contractor rushed in the work that is being done? Does…
Indoor air quality is key to understand. As people are working from home and spending more time at home as it’s getting colder with less hours of daylight, have we considered what we are breathing?
For the past few weeks, I’ve been acting as a PM through researching air quality companies and understanding their services. I’ve also been getting more information and it feels at times, like I’m going through a rabbit hole of information. There were so many companies that didn’t get back to me, told me that it’s not within their scope.
How often do you hold your breath and not realize it?
When times are challenging and our bodies are stressed, it can be so easy to forget to do simple things like breathing, eating, and for women, washing our hair.
Hours can go by when I feel so hyper-focused dealing with “stuff” and I don’t realize it until the end of the day exhausted or tense. Have you ever felt this way? It’s been too easy to sit on the edge of the words that other people are saying to me, instead of focusing on what’s happening within. I’ve had…
Triggers happen on a daily basis, likely even more so in the times that we are in. Someone says or does something that creates a trigger. Someone in line asks you why you can’t stand further away or you say something that someone doesn’t like and get an angry stare.
It’s a feeling and it’s certainly out there.
As there is so much fear and uncertainty, it’s so key to find the things that keep me feeling safe and grounded.
Environment also makes such a big difference. Learning how to protect my own energy amidst all the anger and frustrations…
